Once again correct Gavin. What a surprise to see you in the winners enclosure yet again! .....are you sure you're not in employment as the Telegraph crossword compiler?
Good stuff Gavin. I think I'm right in saying that is the second time you have "won" and walked off with all the glory! I might have to consider barring you from future entry, to give the others a chance!
Yet another 2 bird related crossword clues in this Saturdays (15/1) Telegraph Prize Crossword.
19 across - Hick cuddling hot bird (8)
22 across - New place in green for bird (9,6)
Once again, I'm afraid my generosity doesn't stretch to any prizes for the first correct answers to both clues, you'll just have the satisfaction of knowing that you may now be more likely to make into MENSA than DENSA.
Cheers,
Bill.

Gavin, - yes by my reckoning - Moorhen and Jail - appear to be the correct answers.
Of course, the first species can be found across large areas of Greater Manchester. However, the second species is much more localised in its distribution, with the male of the species favouring the areas around Strangeways and Forest Bank, Pendlebury. Most unusually the female of the second species tends to stay just outside the county boundaries, with an area near Styal in Cheshire being a favoured location!
Simon, did you want to go to the east coast this autumn?
Let me know when you're going Warfy. I've never been to (sir) Elton reservoir before, but as the old Chinese proverb goes: when Warfys away there be megas aplenty
