Keep looking out for the Water Rail But efforts to date are to no avail With the recent spell of cold and ice A sighting today would have been nice Still four shoveler plus gadwall female and drake At least put a little bit of icing on the cake

A Chiffchaff there too. Nice medium sized reservoir with reedy & shrubby edges, a nice little island and a few good viewpoints. I'll be visiting again next time I'm up

2 Ravens on pylons viewable from the platform midday. Also 2 Gadwall. Like this site - only just discovered it even though it's a 5 min walk from where I stay when I visit Manchester. Nice habitat, it 's got potential...
Water Rail, one showing well at reedbed on the south side of the reservoir, best to view it from the dam side, also 3 wigeon, 3 Shoveler, 2 Willow Tit, 4 Bullfinch, Reed Bunting,.
Red Crested Pochard still here, on reservoir near island, also Pochard, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Great Spotted Woodpecker,50+ Fieldfare, 5 Lesser Redpoll, 5 Bullfinch,.
