Cheesden Pasture / Whittle Pike


The upper valley from Deepley Vale to Cheesden Pasture. In and out of Lancs GM

Kingfisher, Dipper, Grey Wagtail, lots of Meadow Pipit, several Bullfinch , Wheatear, Wigeon,  and Raven

Sun 5/5 16:30-19:15 dull and stiff SW breeze

Curlew at least 6 heard calling or bubbling song flight

Plenty of skylarks singing and meadow pipits at least 30 of each

Kestrel hunting

Wrens singing at top of pasture stream

Wheater a couple of pairs just off Pike

lBb Gulls drifting over to West in ones and twos

No dotterel no

Wheatear M + 6 F (harem) above FEcit farm + F on moor

Mipit 30+ seen or heard
Skylark 25+ seen or singing
C Crow c. 20 (incl 10 together on Cheesden pasture)
Curlew Headrd (3+) Cheesden Pasture

Walked from Fecit farm up to head of Cheesden and then traversed Whittle Pike looking for Dotterel - no joy no.gif

Many Skylarks singing , some pairs and FY
Mipits everywhere Song / Display flights & NB
Wheatear M + F + F+ F
LBb Gulls parties of 1 - 4 drifting West
