RE: Poland - Katowice, Krakow, Auschwitz

Hi
My wife and i were in Krakow last weekend too - a pair of Nuthatches nest prospecting in one of the big Beeches near Krakow centre , and 2 Common Cranes in a field en route to Auschwitz.

Not a birding trip at all...but couldn't help notice a few bits :)

Katowice city centre -
Buzzard low over the rail station
A pair of house sparrows hopping around my feet in the waiting room!

Krakow city centre -
Peregrine over head
Fair amount of pigeons, gulls and other city birds too

Auschwitz -
The place that is wrongly known for being dead of bird life had plenty of jackdaw!
A few sparrows and starlings calling
I think I managed to spot a tawny in the woods at the rear of Birkenau...but only a fleeting glimpse!

On the coach and trains -
Buzzards x3
Kestrel x2
The usual small bits flitting around fields...too distant to ID positively!
Plenty of roe deer
