1 Mistle Thrush singing in the darkness, in the trees at Ditchcroft 6 Robins calling along the route. This species seems to be calling constantly at present, day and night.

8 Goosander (4 males) 1 Cormorant over Nuthatch calling - they seem to have become very vocal over the past week or so, both here and in Brushes Valley.
2 Moorhen, plus one on the river at Grove Road 1 Kingfisher 1 Mallard 3 Goldcrest 3 Goldfinch No sign of any Chaffinch. The beech trees seem to have produced very few seeds locally, this year.
Quiet, bird-wise, but plenty of the following juveniles around:
Willow Warblers Dunnock Great Tits Blue Tits Blackbirds
Also:
Buzzard over Harridge 1 Swallow Several Goldfinch 150+ Woodpigeon, including over 100 picking through the fields 30+ Jackdaws with the above Mistle Thrush
As I left Asda in Ashton late this afternoon, I heard the agitated call of a Black-headed Gull. I looked up and saw a Black-headed Gull chasing a Peregrine. The Peregrine was carrying what looked like a Black-headed Gull and landed on Cavendish Mill opposite and proceeded to pluck its prey, unfortunately with its back to me. I was able to show my niece her first Peregrine though.
