Good on yer Ian - if folk can't can't use their given "proper" names for postings then put them right.furious.gif

The Manchester Birding website will continue to improve and there are many articles currently awaiting publication, finishing off or writing, to come in this new year but I thank users of this forum for their continued allegiance, often I'm sure some view my occasional actions and moderation of it as pedantic but after seeing too many forums digress into chaos and after speaking to one or two owners who wished they'd done what we've achieved here (surprisingly especially the 'real names' for usernames!) I'll stick to my guns.

I still ask that users don't post images on here (although I realise I let a couple go over Christmas 'cos they were funny but that encouraged the posting of some 'proper' bird images too ) nor do they post items which have a place on the website. If someone's 'doing a list' and want their own page then fine, I'll sort it out, send me your updates in an email and I'll cut and past into your own page. A photo gallery that isn't catered for, let me know and I'll see what I can do. The forum is for discussions and sightings but often good value info that is placed on here just become lost under countless posts and isn't effectively searchable.

But either way, no matter how good a website or forum appears, it's success is measured by it's statistics and by it's users and on those two scores alone, you lot out there make Manchester Birding what it is, cheers

Well done to one and all GM Birders and to Ian, what a year, what a whirlwind, I too believe that 2008 was the best year of Manchester birding everbiggrin.gif but not without its drawbacks, check my avatar and see what frantic year listing does to you, I may have seen

ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THREE BIRDS, but at a cost, good luck to the next poor soul.

keep birding.
