51 Waxwings. Mill Lane, Hazel Grove this morning, 100 yds up from Fiveways traffic lights. Flock split when flying around down to 26.They are very flighty though and only settle for a few minutes. Apparently seen over the weekend.
I have had some log on issues unfortunately so wasn't able to tell users about the 50+ waxwings on 12th of February at St Peters Church. St Petersgate central Stockport. A single bird was still there on Sunday 19th and as there are cotoneasters nearby, we may see them again. They were originally feeding on rowan in the churchyard.
8 waxwings in lacy street car park opposite atlas plumbing centre in Stretford at 11am. They seem to be eating rotten berries in one tree & apples in another tree. Flew off over chester road & Stretford mall 10 mins later.
Approx 50 Waxwings on Church Lane Marple at 8.50am. Opposite All Saints Church. They were attempting to land on Rowan tree but were being seen off by a Thrush. What a treat!

No Waxwings around the Woodsmoor playing field area at 12.00 but Sparrowhawk flew through.
On the way home there were 2 Waxwings by the A6/Dialstone Road junction on the Stepping Hill Hospital approach road at 12.50. A likely looking distant flock c20 circled the hospital and flew towards Bramhall Moor Road. Not relocated.
I counted 25 waxwings in the playing field behind 135 Woodsmoor Lane Stockport. They are mobile but are coming to feed on rose hips in the playing field at the rear of 135. Thanks Nigel for the info. Beware though part of Woodsmoor Lane is closed for road works. it is was a bit awkward. I approached from A6 then walked through the road works.. There are not many hips left though.
As I left home at 08:00 today, I noticed a small group of birds in a tree on Woodsmoor Lane, Woodsmoor. I shot upstairs to get my bins and confirmed my initial suspicion; Waxwings, nine of them.
The tree is alongside a small opening in the road that gives access to the playing fields behind Woodsmoor Lane (SJ902875). The Waxwings are feeding on berries low down in a hedge at the back of the gardens, close to the entrance.
16 Waxwings outside Donnybrook House - Hyde Medical Centre at 2.45 pm. They fly off very infrequently probably to feed on Cotoneaster berries on the hedge between the 2 small car parks at the bottom of Water St., which is across from the motorway entrance by the bus station.
The are literally absent for no more than 2 minutes before returning to the tree near Donneybrook House.
6-8 waxings flew across Chester Road at 3.55pm looks like they landed near Atlas plumbing Stretford. (Opp. the shopping precinct ) I don't have any bins , was on my way to PureGym.
64 Waxwings resting behind Casino 36, St Petersgate. They were dropping down to feed on Cotoneaster berries until they took off at 10.46 in the direction of Mersey Square. The berry trees might bring them back however.
when the car backfired they gathered in a tall tree on the corner of claridge rd and oswald rd. Were still there when i left around 13:20 but apparently returned to the berries
Just after 3pm a single bird was perched in the tall trees at the rear of St Lukes church on King Street, it flew to a poplar on Lakes Road where there were about 10 others. They all flew off together heading towards The Concord shopping area and Morrisons where birds were present during a previous influx.
40+ Waxwings feeding on berries in front of the motor bike shop on Clarke Way in Hyde at 3:10pm today; perching up on trees behind when disturbed. Not many berries left now though.
The flock mentioned below in Hyde were still there at about 14:30 today. There are about 40 birds, the berry trees they are feeding from are being fiercely defended by a Mistle Thrush. The Waxwings are gathering between raids in trees opposite Illingworth Ingham, the berry trees are just outside the motorcycle shop. Not a massive amount of berries but with the thrush defending quite successfully they may last a day or two.
The three waxwings seen again around Hulme Community Garden Centre at around 1.30 today; perched on street lamp above their usual apple tree, before flying off over the large red-brick building behind the garden centre, not returning whilst I was there.
Flock of about 30 outside Road & Racing Motorcycles in Hyde just now (lunch, Monday 6th), across the motorway from the Bus Station. Quite mobile, they're moving from tree to tree
3 Waxwings - Hulme Community Garden Centre - morning - well worth a visit to this great community project - shrubs, trees, bird seed - very helpful staff
Thanks to the heads up on this thread I finally saw waxwings after a gap of 15 years! The 3 at Hulme Garden centre were lovely to watch and great to meet you Dave if you're reading this! Bought a nice Silver birch while I was there and put some change in the donations box.
As an extra sighting, as luck would have it I caught side of a very flighty flock of 20-25, in the trees at the back of Debdale Park near the college. So a pretty great day all in all!
3 Waxwings showed spectacularly well this morning at Hulme Garden Centre, feeding on the apples till approx. 12.45 when they flew off and out of sight. Donations welcomed at the garden centre shop. Also worth mentioning is the very good café over the road from the garden centre entrance called 'Kims next to the Sea'. Great food and coffee and they were well aware of the interest in the local Waxwings.
Three waxwings still showing spectacularly well today between one and two, tufts wafting in the breeze. Also seem to use the trees behind the wildlife pond when not feeding, as well as those across the road.

On the floor next to the till; also plenty of bird food for sale. :)
Yes I think one of them was me! They were there when I arrived at around 9.30am, flew off and then returned and were still there when I left at 10am. Few more people had turned up to view the very accommodating trio by then
Didnt see the waxwings in hulme as went past on the bus thus morning at 9.40, there were two photgraphers at the site however looking patient, so assumeably they will have been around, as well some apples still to be eaten.
Three very accessible waxwings at Hulme Garden Centre Today 2-4pm. Staff really helpful and accommodating of birders. My bezzie and I bought a plant a thank you. Didn't see donation box. Have to agree with previous posting, a bit of financial support for this project would be fair.
Saw no evidence of any waxwings at Wythenshawe hospital, bumper to bumper cars with no berries to be seen, so not a surprise.
Three Waxwings still feeding in the apple tree at Hulme Community Garden/Garden Centre at 3 pm. There's a pot for donations in the shop. They're being various nice to sundry birders turning up with no intention to buy. A little in the pot would be appreciated and it would help this community enterprise to keep its head above water.
