Regularly over the last few days; a small number of Swallows feeding at very low level around the flats on Armadale
Road. Today they were alongside my vehicle as I drove past and often crossing in front of me at below bonnet height!
(Next to the flats is the copse and the flats are surrounded by lawn)

Just popped down to see them before MOT DAY for my Vehicle.
A restless flock of 20 plus Fieldfare arrived at 8.55 am.
Landing on the trees at the bottom of Rimsdale Walk and doing fly abouts and returning.
I presume they are waiting for all the school and centre traffic to subside before feeding.

Well done Julian, I checked the adjacent Lombardy Poplars out this morning for Waxwing, but drew a blank.(Remembering, Forty two Waxwing here last Winter and one in my Ladybridge garden!)

I was out most of the day but didn't see them again on my return home about 3.00pm I did have a mooch round the nearby gardens and also round Rumworth but no further sightings.
They were in the trees at the bottom of the garden for about 20 minutes around 9.00am I didn't see them feeding, but some of the trees do have berries.

Pete, if you saw a birder running up and down your street this afternoon it was probably Paul Heaton and he reports no further sign of the Waxwings. Warford senior also drew a blank in other nearby locations.

Great bird for your garden Pete. biggrin.gif Look forward to seeing your video footage. Waxwings have a tendancy to occur more often in built up areas rather than in open fields with hedges and prefer rowans and other small berry bushes as opposed to hawthorns (although they will eat hawthorns). They usually end up in town centres, for example the car park around Morrisons(no berries there though ive checkedwink.gif) or Argos in Bolton. They could still be around your street or estate so worth keeping an eye out.

3 waxwings in the garden this morning, as we live only a few hundred yards from Rumworth, I wouldn't be surprised to find others there, as the hedgerows are covered in berries. I will check later.
