Just had 3 peregrines having a violent aerial battle right above my head on Metroplex business Park opposite the BBC. When they let go of each other, it appeared to be two adults attacking a juvenile they were gripped onto each other spinning around plummeting to the ground.. All 3 screaming! Was quite a sight!
Good veiws of one off the BBC peregrines at 7,30am this morning. It was flying low around the square above the 5 aside football pitches before landing on the the corner of the holiday Inn.
Almost an hour spent on pomona this morning, lots of clearing has been done recently so no snipe to be found. 15 fieldfares 2 redwings 2 mistle thrush 1 reed bunting 1 goosander
11.15am A Peregrine flew past me at head hight along Merchants Quay before swooping up and flushing a flock of pigeons from one of the rooftops. It failed to catch any and after slowly circling it flew off over towards the BBC building.
Also approx 20 redwing feeding on the rowans outside Laser house.

The BTO have updated the WeBS website, some interesting changes including a nifty little graphic on your Data Home page showing Species Counts in your region (or any region of the country), per month.
Early visit to the well-vegetated island 7.10-8.20am - some good tit flocks contained at least 9 Chiffchaffs, 4 Willow warblers and other unidentified Phylloscs. Also 2 blackcaps, a herring gull, 2 grey herons, 1 kestrel and 9 sand martins. Some good migrant cover so no doubt lots more missed
Went to the Lowery center yesterday( Friday 28.06.19) with bins but saw no swifts, swallows or sand martins over the quays. I spent about an hour inside and when I came out ... still no sand martins, swallows or swifts .Very odd ! Other birds present :- Mute Swan 20. Cormorant 2.

7.00-7.50am this morning - Lesser whitethroat singing in fenced area at N of site, Blackcap, whitethroat, willow warbler & chiffchaff singing too. Reed bunting for the first time in several weeks.
4 curlews circling over trafford wharf at 12.40pm they wanted to land but decided against it & flew off in a north westerly direction. 2 peregrine falcons 2 common buzzards 1 sparrowhawk 1 grey wagtail 30+ herring gulls
1 song thrush 1 mistle thrush 3 moorhen 5 coot 2 tufted duck 3 goosander 2 mute swan 1 snipe 150+ black-headed gull 10+ common gull 10+ lesser black-backed gull 3+ herring gull 9 cormorant (including one absolutely spectacular looking individual in full breeding finery; the cormorant is a much under-rated bird, in my view)
A bit uneventful this morning on the island - 2-3 jack snipe and 7 snipe flushed as we went around. The flock of 80+ fieldfare of recent days reduced to 25 or so, with 1 redwing and 3 song thrush. A few more finches in, with 17 goldfinch, 7 greenfinch and a vocal siskin
An hour or so on the island this morning - 41 spp including 2 Siskin, 1 Greenfinch, 6 Bullfinch, 1 Jack Snipe, 5 Tufted Duck, 2F Blackcaps, 2 GBB gull, and again a parakeet, and 5 thrush spp.

There's a female Goldeneye in the basin next to the satellite dishes, next to itv.
It could be Gary, the resident drake Goldeneye in eclipse, that is his favourite location, but it would be great if there was a female Goldeneye on The Quays to keep him company
That makes sense, I thought it must be female cause of the completely black head, as don't see many eclipse males this time of year this far south. Plus I didn't have my bins. . Can't think of anymore excuses
