Hi Rob, presumably youve contacted Tim Frayling at Natural England? The NE birds could well be his Bowland birds (or Trough) as you say. I had one in September 2018 at Redgate, N:E29 Cheers.
Hi Rob ,
Yes , contacted Tim a few months ago as per crbirding but he's been in Thailand so no reply ..thev have all been from The Trough bar one from the Ribble. I would guesstimate there have been 50+ of their green ringed gulls at AMR this year but only managed to read 11..

Hi Rob, presumably youve contacted Tim Frayling at Natural England? The NE birds could well be his Bowland birds (or Trough) as you say. I had one in September 2018 at Redgate, N:E29 Cheers.
Coal Tit below Ashworth View and 100+ Goosander at the res this morning . Another colour ringed Lesser Black-backed Gull (N:E82) amongst the gulls on the south bank. Not had a reply re any of the green N: birds at all so far but probably all from The Trough. The juv Lesser Black-backed Gull NA15 without the colon in the code is probably from Holland but has not been traced for certain as yet but is being looked into by one of the ringers.
Passerines were the main interest this morning with 1 Whinchat, 2 Stonechat and 3 Wheatear among c80 Meadow Pipits, 20 Pied Wagtails, c50 Goldfinch and c30 Linnet. Also a few Skylark and Chaffinch moving west. 4 Tufted Duck , 7 Goosander, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Cormorant and 1 Heron on the reservoir.
Green Woodpecker on the western grass slope again this morning and another colour ringed Lesser Black-backed Gull ( N:L12 Green) amongst the many Gulls passing through, mainly heading west.
A Whimbrel dropped out of the clouds and drizzle at 1330 and landed on the south bank briefly before departing south towards Bury and the Robin is still present on the boulder field . c100 Meadow Pipits grounded around the reservoir and a single Wheatear on the West wall.
Best from a quick visit this evening was a Hobby that flew west past Owd Betts at 19.30 without stopping and a single Swift shortly after. Also an impressive Gull roost with 760 Lesser Black-backed and 70 Black-headed Gull. And the Robin still present by the pub!
A Robin on the boulder fields below Owd Betts and a Great Spotted Woodpecker flying South over the reservoir were unusual for me up here this morning. 2 Wheatear and a White Wagtail also along the south wall.
Lots of large gulls present though could only find a single colour ringed bird amongst them. N:C91, 2cy Lesser Black-backed Gull and may possibly have some history.
Sedge Warbler on the north side this morning in the same bush as one found 3 years ago 26th Sept 2016.
2 Colour ringed juv Lesser Black-backed Gulls amongst the gulls this morning . NA15 and N:00E.. ( NA15 without a colon is not recognised on crbirding so maybe a different project than the usual NWgulls).
2 Skylark over south and 2 Wheatear on the windtower fenceline.
Another colour ringed Juv Lesser Black-backed Gull (N:68C Green) in the same sheep field as yesterdays ringed bird and only 5 digits different so probably from the same colony. Not had a reply yet from NWGulls as to exactly where all the green N: birds are from. There have been many at the reservoir this autumn but only managed to read 6.
Quite a few Gulls around this morning, mostly juvenile Lesser Black-backed Gulls of which at least one was Green Colour ringed N:63C ( UK Ringed bird). 4 Wheatear also present on the wall down to Croston Close
Colour ringed Lesser Black-backed Gull N:75C ( UK ringed bird) present among c200 large gulls this afternoon. A juvenile Great Black-backed Gull was also present amongst them.
In addition to rogers sightings from 11:00
Another Tutfed making MMF
3 Cormorants
Great crested grebe in sp
Adult Coot seen from 13:30 unusual bird for here
Had a speedy reply from Ian re yesterday's " Caspian Gull" ..... Although superficially like a Caspuan Gull Ian pointed out a comprehensive and explanatory list of reasons why it wasn't one ... ! Live and learn ...
Decent numbers of large gulls moving west this afternoon including the one attached which bathed for 15 minutes and carried on west. Seemed to fit the right profile for a 1cy Caspian Gull to me but I have emailed the photos to a man who knows better..
A few colour ringed Lesser Black-backed Gulls along the reservoir banking this afternoon. N:D27 and N:D09 Green on Juveniles ringed in the UK. Another was a Portugese Black ringed adult that I could not get the full details off. 2 Great Black-backed Gulls also amongst them.
A minimum of one thousandswifts feeding at the res tonight, mostly feeding low over the water. Impossible to give an accurate count and the real number could have been anything up to 2000
c300 swallows also present
Also noted
1 male tufted duck
80 goosander
1 buzzard
1 kestrel
2 great black-backed gulls
1 herring gull
2 black-headed gulls
min 500 lesser black-backed gull
min 20 lapwing
min 25 pied wagtail. No doubt there were more present. they appeared to be going to roost in willowherb and long grass near Owd Betts pub.
Impressive flock of 200+ Swallow, 20 Swift and at least 2 Sand Martin over the reservoir this evening. Also 72 Goosander at roost, 1 Kestrel and 1 Sparrowhawk making half hearted attempts to catch a Swallow!
Adult Yellow-legged Gull flew onto the reservoir at 1530 and departed west almost immediately. Green Woodpecker was feeding on the freshly cut west slope ( 200 metres from the nearest tree) and flew off towards Cheesden.
7 Kestrel in a row over the southern embankment this morning. 3 Goosander and Lapwing numbers up to 80. 18 Swift, 15 Swallow, c30 Sand Martin and 2 House Martin catching insects over and around the Res. 3 Wheatear and 2 Grey Wagtail.
Disappointing to note that the recent rain has raised the water level such that the island and most of the mud around the perimeter has disappeared. Hence, the wader score this evening was zero! 42 Goosander at roost and 15 Swift the only birds of note.
3 Oystercatcher, 4 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin and 3 Common Sandpiper this morning. Also 6 Kestrel, 6 Swift, 2 Sand Martin and a small group of warblers in the bushes on the northern bank. I specifically identified 2 Willow Warbler and 1 Whitethroat ( my first site record) but there were more.
A juvenile female Peregrine flew in at 0700 making a couple of attempts to take one of the Goosanders in the water and a Hobby hurtled through chasing Swifts below Ashworth View . 4 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Oystercatcher and a Common Sandpiper also present
Fewer Gulls passing through this morning however one of the Lesser Black-backed Gulls was colour ringed (4K1B from a UK project.) 3 Little Ringed Plover and a Common Sanpiper also present.

This morning's Yellow-legged Gull still present and on the island at 1830. 2 Mediterranean Gull on the north shore and another 2 flew over South at 1800. 3 Common Gull also present
