This year a number of Tree Sparrows have been colour ringed in Greater Manchester as part of a project to follow the movements and life span of individual birds. We would be grateful if birders could keep and eye out for any colour ringed birds and report them to Dr. Steve Christmas at se.christmas@ntlworld.com

Observers of any colour ringed birds will be given details of where and when they were ringed plus any re-sighting information of the individual that they have reported.

Birds have been given 3 colour rings + a standard BTO metal ring. A year marker has been used within the combination (i.e. 2008 - White ring) which sits above the BTO metal ring on the right leg. On the left leg are two colour rings.
