Last night 6.30 there was a very large flock of swallows feeding over the lodge. Also many house martins, sand martins and 2 swifts. Also one adult grebe with babies but couldnt see how many.

Had a look today at 9.30am , there are now 4 common terns (2 pair) and each pair has taken up "residence" on the floating nest platforms. The GC grebes were also building nests and one pair sitting but couldn't tell if there were eggs. Also a number of swallows , sand martins plus the usual Blackheaded gulls, Canada Geese etc. smile.gif

After reading reports in the Bolton News that the Terns where back. I went to see but no sign.

6 Swallows
1 Willow Warbler
3 pair Great Crested Grebe
LBB Gull
BH gulls
flushed 2 Snipe
Tufted Duck

Spoke to a guy who, while interested in the birds, was also a fisherman. He didn't half have a good whinge about Cormorants. Said he'd seen them catch fish up to a 1lb in weight. Must be a friend of Pete Lanewink.gif
