Geoff - be careful it's not on view whenever you go to Leigh - the locals will think you're some kind of time-traveller, wizard, or the second coming, they'll never let you leavebiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

There's still a public footpath shown on maps which crosses Pennington Flash from near Sorrowcow Farm, so a satnav is definitely a great leap forward in those partswink.gif

Before anbody descends upon my home with burning torches I am only jesting, Leigh is a fine asset to Wigan Borough and Greater Manchester!!smile.gif

traitor, confused.gifstrong words indeedbiggrin.gif, only trying to keep up with the times, but it,s a good point there no reason not to add the atoz refidea.gif to the spread sheet along with judiths os refs for ease of use,and if you want to be puritanical about your kit throw the mobile, pager ,glasses and much loved swarovski away and get back to real hard core birding int nude.cry.gif

Ian,

Sat Nav's are a brilliant peice of kit.smile.gif Punch in a postcode or favorite place and away you go!!! Especially as I am now over the age of 40 and expecting failing eyesight at any moment.hmm.gif(as well as all the other geriatric ailments!!)

No more one handed driving with one eye on the road, one on the map and the other confused.gif in the rear view mirror looking for the local police. I can now concentrate fully on my rear view mirror (with all three eyes).

Oh!! I forgot about the little voice telling me I am going to fast and when I am approaching a speed camera.biggrin.gif

That leaves me all three eyes to scan for birds en-route and build up my 'from the car' listbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

ok before you all start ,yes I.ve been dragged kicking an screaming into the year 2000+ and am now the proud owner of a navman system,it,s not perfect and tries to take you through shopping precients etc but i.d guess 98percent ok and very easy to use,so i,m going to compile a list of post codes that will get you to within a spit of the popular birding spots in g.m. if you can mail me or post under this with correct post codes for your parking spot i,ll do the rest and send the list to ian mk

cheers geoffbiggrin.gif
