having today obtained my new birds of lancashire I now have the full set. Mitchell 1845, clifford oakes 1953, So can double check with your records ian. of what fun I can now have. keep it up.
As requested on the systematic list page I would urge all users to alert me to any errors in dates, locations, anything in fact. As the info has been collated from the county bird reports, errors can creep in, especially from the old ones and the individual observer's dates etc may be different from those in the reports, so to keep the info as correct as possible changes may be made as and when I recieve updated information. I have already had a couple of updates on the Arctic Skua details which will go a long way to making these lists as correct as possible (all info I receive will be passed onto Steve Atkins in time so he may correct the county database).
It will indeed keep me busy and has been 'a work in progress' for the past couple of years but loosing all my accumulated date in last years hard drive crash didn't help!
Although I will be updating them, they will always be purposefully out of date and won't be updated until that year's county bird report is almost 12 months old (or until all the reports are sold) as I don't want to intefere with sales of the report. There are no doubt more than a few tight-arses out there who begrudge spending a few quid for a rapidly improving (and already excellent) county bird report and may use the website feature as a substitute
Also, some details will be incomplete as my quest for the older records continues (but they will be inlcuded as and when I get them) and they will range from those like the Arctic Skua to nothing more than a single line for a highest ever flock. It should be a good feature but is currently taking a full evening to do about 3 or 4 species (it has tonight anyway ).
Brilliant. It's just what we need. Saves trawlling through all those reports. It'll certainly keep Mr McKercher busy for some time. I never knew there was an Arctic at Broad Ees Dole (Sale WP) in '89 (either that or I forgot - it wasn't my bird anyway !). Cheers .

The systematic list and the details on the Artic Skua is mouthwatering to the record twitchers among us, well done on starting it Mr McKerchar looking forward to more of the same.
