pm visit
several goldfinch, 3 greenfinch, 1 chaffinch, robin,blackbird,dunnock, great tit, loads of wood pigeon, carrion crow, magpie, 1 yellowhammer, 1 moorhen, 2 coot with young i think 4 but difficult to see in reeds, approx 20 each swallow and swift, 2 whitethroat seen 2 more heard,

3 whitethroat,2 willow warbler,7 goldfinch,great tit,blue tit,blackbird, 4 swift,2 swallow,1 house martin, plenty of wood pigeon and magpie in horse fields, 1 pheasant smallish numbers carrion crow and jackdaw, 1 moorhen and 9 black headed gull on pond, didn't see any yellowhammer which is unusual for this site,

Usual wood pigeon,magpie, carrion crow,2 took and c60 starling in horse fields,7 house sparrow,blue,great and long tailed tits,chaffinch,goldfinch,pheasant,2 grey partridge,6 yellowhammer,5 linnet,c20 mixed swallow and house martin,song thrush,blackbird,2 mute swan,1 drake tufted duck,2 mallard,several coot including 2 broods of young,3 juv moorhen but no sign of parents,

Pm visit
Usual wood pigeon,starling,magpie and carrion crow in horse field,
Chaffinch,robin,great tit,blue tit,mistle thrush,blackbird,6 whitethroat including 2 feeding young,reed bunting also seen carrying food,5 skylark,meadow pipit,at least 6 yellowhammer, 30+ house martin,c15 swallow, approx 40 swift passed through,moorhen with 2 young,2 mute swan,coot with 2 young,pair mallard, 4 goldfinch.pheasant,2 grey partridge.

pm visit
horse fields contained the usual starling, wood pigeon, magpie, carrion crow with a single mistle thrush and 2 pied wagtail, plenty of chaffinch, blue tit, goldfinch,blackbird, 2 robin, 3 whitethroat, in the hedgerows and field edges 1 pheasant, 5 yellowhammer, 4 linnet plus more goldfinch in the wild meadow near the pond, c40 hirundine over fields and pond a pretty even mix of house martin and swallow, on the pond 6 adult mallard + 10 ducklings looked like 2 broods an 8 and a 2, pair of moorhen with 3 young, pair of coot with 2 young, 2 mute swan, 2 canada geese,

pm visit
plenty of starling magpie and wood pigeon with 3 pied wagtail and 1 mistle thrush feeding in sheep/horse fields, newish pond at top mallard with 8 ducklings coot with 3 young, 2 pied wagtail, 14 yellowhammer, blue tit, robin, blackbird, 2 goldfinch, chaffinch, and several pheasant.

early picking my grandson up from school so passed an hour
in horse and sheep fields, 5 pied wagtail, 2 black headed gulls, 1 mistle thrush, 1 starling, 2 rook, numerous carrion crow, wood pigeon and magpie, 4 moorhen also in field, in hedgerows and trees, great tit, blue tit, chaffinch, goldfinch, robin, blackbird. in field close to borsdane wood 50+ fieldfare, new pond 2 mute swan, 9 mallard, 1 coot, 2 moorhen.

6.30-9.00am. Still very cold but many birds singing and active including a minimum a 5 Yellowhammer inc a singing male. At least 5 Tree Sparrow around Wilson's Farm. Grey Partridge 1 pair, Fieldfare 6, Redwing 18, Willow Tit 2, Stock Dove 2

good to see the yellowhammers grouped together aprox 20 a mixture of males and females
also a group of green and chaffinch.
1 male wheatear in plouged field along with 50 skylark and 16 grey partridge.
4 wrens doing their chattering calls.
magpie roost not in ful swing yet but counted 25.
1 sparrowhawk

real nice surprise today 1 green sandpiper biggrin.gifvery flighty watched for 15 mins from railway bridge near main road.it was in the field on the left small pond with bullrushes , then flew off towards westhoughton i think when it flew off towards westhoughton it may have landed again in the horse field another pond here with bullrushes.
not much else around 1 grey heron ,several robins and blackbirds ,a few magpies and 1 kestrel.coulnt find any yellowhammerscry.gif

good numbers of blue and great tits,chaffinch,wrens and robins,blackbirds,song thrush.
highlight watching 20+yellowhamer feeding next to cow feeding areabiggrin.gif
good roost of 30+ magpies
2 heron and 22 mallard in fields on left on floodwater
