Sue and I will be attending - even though the mighty Bury are playing Everton on Friday night. After last year's highly enjoyable evening, how could we not?!
Well Gentlemen it appears the 10th July 2009 is a definite date for our next meeting.
The Tansy Green Public house in Bolton is the preferred venue, time 8, oclock onwards, and the main evening toast will be for all those GM birders that were
Mark, I fear we may be getting into areas of indelicacy with this talk of pink things on show down John´s trouser leg..... We don´t want any such bird scaring on May 5th. - Between you and me though, I´ve suddenly realised why his bird symbol is a Jockstrap Penguin.

I'll be there. Mr Heaton perhaps this could be attended by some of the 1000 club members (well potential members only 8 months to go) too? (See wildlife forum for more details).
Unfortunately I cannot add threads to others and so the 'breakaway' 200 club thread will be closed so anything pertaining to to it will be put on this one, but Paul's comments on that thread pointing out the nature and indeed beauty of the 200 club are included below.

Its a bad idea to bring this up again
Its imaginary and in my head, many moons ago we joked about the lack of GM birders who had not seen 200 birds in Greater Manchester, we were guilty of not birding in our local patch.
As a joke the 200 club was suggested along the same lines as the UK 400 club. it has resulted in very off the wall remarks a lot of in -house jokes etc,
I am a big Monty Pythons Fan Spike Milligan, and read Jasper FForde books, you have to be mad or disturbed to understand this ldea.
All Gm birders who put there lists up can be 200 club members, if for fun and should not detract, from proper birding in Gm.
Dear members, it has come to our attention, that things have been a little quite lately, Mr Hammond Mr Woosey Mr Warfy and Mrs Adderley, come on, you have all been silent this year, that have more news from you.
Hello.......
I`ve just moved to Salisbury and am currently doing a Wiltshire County List - My aim is to get into the Wiltshire 200 Club - only on 103 at present though.
Things have been quiet of late apart from Glaucous Gull at Audi last Saturday the rest has just been run of the mill from my trips to Pennington and Astley as well as Audenshaw.
We'll just have to see what today brings as I have been given full blessings to be in the field all day including gull roost at Audenshaw this afternoon

Mrs Judith Smith has a good excuse, (hope your mums getting better)
Now rumour has it a certain Mr Cliff is heading the tournament, now he may have a fast car, but he,s not even a member of the 200 club yet.
Although it has always been a shadowy area, there have been geniune letters of how to join the 200 club, and I have replied and set the records straight, however I would just like to inform you that the GREATER MANCHESTER 1000 CLUB has just been formed on the flowerly and fluffy website, run by Mr Winnard.
He is going to attempt to see 1000 species of flora and fauna in GM, now that a club to be proud of.
Dave you have our full support, and I wish you well in your quest, but dont forget,
My pc died just after christmas so unfortunately i didn't find out about the location untill the day after. The Tansy is just up the road from me so i would have been there.
How disrepectful Mr Cliff, it was a very pleasent evening, and the location was superb. Many Thanks to all that turned up, it was the best night out this year!
As for the presentations, it all went well shame Mr McKercher was unable to attend, and get his tournament prize for his outstanding effort this year. I will get it to him this week.
The discussion as to whether or not we should become the 210 club was rejected, and most thought we should just be Mancy Birders as for the M&S suggestion that to was rejected.
As you would expect from our meeting loads of off the wall subjects were discussed, and many a laugh was had, but the toast to Mr McKerchar for his excellent website and information service was a noisy affair, well done that man.
So there you have it Gentlemen the location of our little assembly, please dont expect alot, it is just us having a pint of the landlords finest ale, perhaps served by a buxom barpersonand recalling all the mad dashes we have made in 2008 and the near misses, and perhaps trying not to get into the silent meals club in 2009
As for warfys generous offer of the first pint on me, I will indeed adhere to this however it will be from 08.00 t0 08.01
Mr Winnard, congratulations and believe me I am sure many a GM birder has somehow missed a bird or two off their list, and as you have been very busy with the Manchester Wildlife website, ( that I must admit is a very good site to visit)
Its a pleasure to have you as our newest member well done that man, but as to why you were driving around the M60 on a frosty night we can only wonder But I do recall a certain daylist event coming up soon as its my theory that someone is practising how to get between sites in the quickest way, a clever ploy young man, and good luck with the attempt.
As for the presentation night on 2nd Jan, well due to reasons beyond my control the location of the said event will be made public soon.
(warfy this is your cue to put the name of the public house in because I cannot remember it)
See you all on the night and beside drinking and making merry we will as aways,
keep birding.
The venue is the Tansy Green, Brodick Drive, Bolton, BL2 6UB. At 8pm Paul Heaton is getting the first round in
PS. Had a lesser pecker in Heaton Park in with a large titmouse flock while doing my atlas work on 24th Dec, not had one for a over a year in the park!
A good sighting indeed, surely deserved a place on the sighting forum
