At least two have been around Garrett Hall Primary School in Astley. The caretaker has reported seeing them all summer. I saw one of them for myself in the trees at the back of the school this afternoon.
I've been wondering whether the new calls I've been hearing at the back of our gardens were parakeets and have just spotted a single ring neck parakeet on our neighbours apple tree. Northenden area, assuming they're in the buffer tree line backing onto the Sharston Ind Est where the Dairy used to be. Beautiful bird, but loud :o)
Not so much an unusual sighting, the point being I missed it as I was in the car. Personally I don't know of a local population in Denton to my knowledge, so yeah far more likely to see them near you being central to two known roosts. Did see one in Ashton-under-Lyne a few years back though.
I frequently see birds over Kingsway at Fog Lane where I live. I assume they are 'commuting' between a Didsbury Park/Fletcher Moss roost and Heaton Mersey Common where you often see them during the day. I also saw some in Fog Lane Park a few weeks ago.
It was probably a bit more unusual for Steve and Rob the other morning, not sure if they have any local populations.
My youngest daughter casually looked up from her waffles and maple syrup this morning and said " Dad after you and Mum went out last night ,there was a parrot on the feeders".
"Eh???? What Colour was it?"
"Green".
I immediately got a pic up on Google images and she confirmed she'd seen a Ring-necked Parakeet.
I live in Highfield Wigan.
My feeders are all empty at the moment until I can get to the pet shop tomorrow.
Fingers crossed it comes back and I get to see it myself
Late report for the 28th of May. Ring necked parakeets seemed interested in a tree hole in fletcher moss. Male was checking out the nest and the female was sitting around looking pretty or flying around screeching her head off

Very vocal bird or birds heard this morning at about 10am in trees between the back of The Country House Hotel and The Mersey adjacent to Northenden Golf Course.
I agree Roger, I have watched breeders in Dorset in May, tending very small nestlings. The websites that I had a q.look at just now quote January to June as the egg laying period in the UK. But maybe local evidence has shown a different breeding strategy up north? Localised differences can occur, the ones in Dorset do benefit from a much milder climate!
I spotted a single 'keet this morning at 9:45am, and between 8 and 10 yesterday at about 9:30am (Friday 13th) in my neighbours back garden. They seem to like the apple tree which still has apples on the higher branches.
I live in Whalley Range, overlooking the Hough End Allotments. M16 8QN.
A single, rather forlorn, bird sat on top of a lighting column on the off-slip road of Jct 7 on the M60 (adjacent to Sale Water Park) at 1725 this afternoon.
Spotted a single 'keet on 12th November, 9:36, it was in the Hough End Allotments, Whalley Range towards the cycle route. It sat still for about 5 minutes or so, looking around.
For several days afterwards, I've heard a 'keet cry in the morning when I've been leaving for work around 10ish.
(I joined this forum to make this post and approval took a while).

Platt Fields. My highest Autumn total so far, for the pre-roost, was this afternoon's count of 71. I've had several 65's and 66's plus many in the fifties and forties and below, not forgetting one afternoon when the birds didn't fly off to roost at all, and just stayed on the island. Whether you're a fan of these birds or not, it's interesting watching their behavior.
