6/10/2020 Late post for a sighting on Friday 2nd Oct

c40 Lapwing seen in flight close to the petrol station on Higginshaw Lane Oldham. In previous years sightings around here have been a bit further along the road towards Shaw so possibly using a different roof this year.

An impressive sight yesterday was a good-sized flock of Lapwings (with starlings too) flying around the retail park in Broadheath before landing on Homebase - a quick count in groups of 10 suggested in the region of 110 - 120+ ish Lapwings. For birds that roost on the ground it must be a big advantage not having any mammalian predators up there.

In excess of 100 Lapwings in residence on Agecroft Commerce Park off Agecroft Road in Salford. Numbers can swell to upwards of 200 on occasion. Normally located on and around the Cussons building on the right just after the central roundabout on the estate
