39 flew in and settled on the barley stubble just North of Little Woolden Moss LNR. They were flushed by the police helicopter but they've settled back down on there now.
As per my River Iwrell posting, 1 on the path/bank of the Irwell between Broughton Road bridge and the Adelphi foot bridge in Salford. With some Canada geese but ok with close approach (<10').
Romiley: at 2:35; 34 came from the SE heading NNW. About 1 minute later, another flock of c180 came from a more easterly direction, going west. Both skeins were very low due to the low cloud base.
Interesting.....a similar flock size and direction to where I then saw a Skein @2.38 (*draw Romily to Newton-le Willows and it is spot on both our vectors). I've timestamp of my narrative on the cars Crash Cam so I'm pretty 100% on my data. 430 mph would have been required by the geese to get from Romily to Newton-le-Willows in that time. As I failed to persuade anyone on a 60 mph Lapwing once I ain't going to claim this as the same flock obviously but interestingly they were also low due to cloud - going to roost somewhere one the Lancashire Mosses / estuaries?
