 The first at 8.50am c80 Albert Road West, Markland Hill, Bolton. flying east.

The second 3.15pm. c70 Harpers Lane, Smithills, Bolton. flying east

25 flew high SE over Watergrove Reservoir at 09:25 hrs. Possibly the earliest ever autumn date in Rochdale for returning birds.

The 33 seen over Elton Reservoir by Simon Johnson on 5th were also the earliest for Bury according to the GMBRG database.

The earliest dates for GM are 16 west on 30/08/2012 seen from Georges Lane, Horwich and ten at Pennington Flash on 30/08/2004.

Unless anyone has any additional sightings?

Pink-footed Geese flock heard over Irlam at 19.45 heading north. Couldnt see them obviously as it was completely dark but they sounded like they were flying quite low.

A decent-sized flock went fairly low ESE viewed from Whitebeam Close, Timperley at 11:20 a.m., in a very rushed count in groups of ten i estimated approx 240, but if someone told me that was a bit too many i wouldn't disagree. Could well be the same group that John had later, perhaps turned back to the Lancs mosses for some reason.

In the fields just outside of Partington at the junction of Moss Lane and the A6144, looked to be 20ish..
Unfortunately driving and couldn't stop.

This is roughly where they were a couple years ago too.

Obviously no chance to go back today, but worth a mooch tomorrow..
