Early morning around 7.30am I was alerted to the sound of the Geese flying over mums house Dane Bank but couldnt see them. Then I looked up and realised they were higher than usual, and I couldnt put a number on them, probably well over 1500 birds.
Whilst working around Stone Cross lane I saw about 30 drop into the fields at 920am this morning & this afternoon I could see there was well over 30 feeding in the field as I was in the layby ( next to grange farm) on East Lancs.
Ian : the fields down Kenyon Lane have all had Maize crops in them, so I expect they are feeding in those fields also.
Thanks David, yesterday’s birds were definitely dropping down east of there but all in Cheshire anyway, other than when they were low over the south of Lowton
The pink footed geese are feeding in the cut Maize field at Stone Cross Lane south ( next to grange farm) , I saw about 30 drop in this morning & this afternoon i could hear them still in the field , not sure how many were in the field because I couldn't see for the high hedges.
At around 09:15 this morning a couple of hundred were circling low over the Lowton St. Mary’s area immediately north of the A580 but then flew low dropping to the south of the A580 in Cheshire and perhaps around the Kenyon Lane/B5207 area.
c70 flying E over Marple (from my Romiley bedroom window) this am. Then, when over Mellor Moor, turned N. The only evidence of migration to be seen as the moment.
