Went home to Bradford last night to see family so spent the morning birding on the other side of the pennines.
They live in a place called Allerton which is on the hills above Bradford. Good moorland birding and excellent from now till November for Vis Mig!

1st Stop was Denholme clough for my 1st Visible Migration watch of the Autumn. Its a North South facing clough at Doe Park, Denholme and is right on the edge of the pennines so its surrounded by farmland with the moorland still higher up.

Birds on the move:- 8 Snipe West, 33 House Martin, 13 Swallow and 25 Lapwing all SW.

Birds in the clough: -Redstart, Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaff, 6 Willow Warbler, 5+ Robin, 3 juv Bullfinch and Juv Green Woodpecker.

Doe Park res had Goosander and a covy of 15 Grey Partridge in fields.

We then headed up trough lane heading towards Oxenhope where the farmland meets the moors 2 Red Grouse flew over the road from the last bit of moor and carried on over the farmland no idea where they were heading, maybe escaping a shoot!, also ahd 9 Wheatear and a Whincat along here.

Went to a moorland watch point which is owned by Yorkshire water which is permit only - unless you join Bradford bird group as they have accsess. 3 Grey Wag and 10 Swallow headed SE and a Wheatear and 44 Mpipits were grounded by the drizzle.

Final stop was another moorland clough called Paul Clough, had 4 Spotted fly and another Whincat.

Wasnt a bad mornings birding, even if it was the wrong side of the pennines!
