Details of the atlas project are covered elsewhere, but a big thank you to Henerz1 for volunteering to do a tetrad in 'my' 10km area of SJ78. Any takers for Altrincham town centre ??
I did a similar survey for the Cheshire and Wirral Atlas project last year, and it is very addictive trying to get new species or proving breeding in your 'patch'. You also get to visit parts of the region you'd never normally contemplate visiting let alone birding. It's also a bonus to spot things like breeding Grey Wagtails under the M56, breeding Buzzards in a scruffy patch of woodland or a wintering Green Sandpiper on a farmyard pond.
If you don't fancy doing a timed tetrad, you can also enter 'roving records' and as a bare minimum you should be recording things in your gardens this winter and next breeding season !
