Currently on the large main lake is what I think two female Green Winged Teals. The green speculum is clear and visible. Bill colour match. Call idd by Merlin also. In a flock of 15 similar birds that I think are Pintail with grey beaks and scalloped mottled brown feathers. I am by no means an expert so I am more than happy to be corrected.

Not to appear too negative Ian but I doubt it very much, not least as they are practically (realistically) indistinguishable from Eurasian Teal in the field for all intents and purposes plus the features you mention have no bearing on their separation I’m afraid.

Just south of the reserve, 11 Little Egret around mid-day, around a flood in the usual horse paddocks alongside the A580, just west of the Greyhound roundabout. Good opportunity to view them through my bins as I sat queuing for the roundabout, as half of the population of the North-West seemed to be heading for Bents
