Another regular saw a Green Sandpiper yesterday when there was also a single Wigeon on No1 and 2 Fieldfare entering a garden along the east side No1.
Snow Bunting showed quite well from 9 to 9.30;on the slope of no 3. About 100 yds west from the hide .
seen to move into the more grassy cover by the wall where it is more difficult to see. Great find and a GM tick for me.
Nice one John. I turned up about 11.30am yesterday and it had gone despite the murk and wind. A two hour search with Paul Brewster drew a blank though I did get a Rock Pipit on No.1 res as a consolation prize (though not a GM tick - I've seen a few now)

Snow bunting showed well on the causeway Bank of no 3 around 4.50pm , a couple with a dog managed to spook it & it flew off to no 1 res but eventually came back.
Saw the water rail this morning around 11.30 thanks to a lovely birder (jaz)
Lots of shoveler , coots and tufted ducks present, a few wigeon

Water rail seen for c2 minutes at 8:50 a.m. 8 Whooper Swans dropped in at 9:45 and stayed until 10:20 departing east. 3 skeins of pink-feet of c45 E, 80+ N, & 75 NW over reservoirs. Others note noted yesterday were dabchick and redshank.

1 Jack Snipe 1 Water Rail found by another regular hence return visit. The only other site record is one in May 1975!!! 2 Rock Pipit 1 Golden Plover flew around for a few minutes 1 Ringed Plover 1 Dunlin 15+ Snipe 50 Lapwing 32 Mute Swan including 2 first year birds. 10+ Shoveler 25+ Teal 1 Pochard 1 Goldeneye There have been upwards of 55 Cormorants visiting daily, roosting off site, multiple flocks flying in from early morning. 2 Skeins of Pink Footed Geese over.

Lots of vismig this morning including large numbers of Pink-footed Geese, many of these probably included birds seen from Horwich Moors. Also large numbers of Woodpigeon on the move and smaller passerines, many of which were Meadow Pipits and Pied Wagtails and Skylarks and one Greenfinch over Apologies for no precise counts on these.

Quite amazing numbers of wildfowl on no1, they continue to build daily.
106 Wigeon (these have built from the 25 Saturday to 54 Sunday and 70+ yesterday) 5 Pochard 12 Shoveler 7 Gadwall 33+ Teal 2 Pintail 1 Goldeneye 120+ Coot 150-200 Tufted Duck across all 3 resers. 10+ Moorhen 25 Mute Swan 3 Little Grebe 6 Goosander (a count of 40 plus was made on Saturday early morning) 25 Great Crested Grebe on No2 plus another 10 or so on Nos 1 and 3 Canada Geese have been counted regularly at first light at over 400, some linger all day on No1. 10+ Cormorant 50+ Mallard 1 Green Sandpiper 1 Common Sandpiper 2 Ringed Plover 1 Dunlin 8+ Snipe 40+ Meadow Pipit 3 Wheatear 8 Reed Bunting 3 Chiffchaff 3 Swallow

We have tried unsuccessfully to make contact with anybody at United Utilities regarding permits for Audenshaw. We have tried Ed Lawrence and Ian Leech by email and the widely available phone number over the last five years and have not been able to speak to anybody let alone get on a waiting list.

Today there were 8 Wigeon 1 Pintail, present since Monday 1 Gadwall 2 Shoveler 3 Teal 1 Little Grebe 1 Goldeneye Great Crested Grebes have 2 broods of 1 and 2 Probably upward of 60 Coot 19 Mute Swan 2 Moorhen 8 Goosander Also today 1 Whinchat and 3 Wheatear 9 Swift and small numbers of all 3 Hirundines 1 Juv Sparrowhawk
Excellent morning, very Autumnal ! a light misty rain starting about 30 minutes after arrival, 37 species today but it was more quality than quantity, highlights being:
Common Tern - 3 juvs Goosander - 16 Black-tailed Godwit - 19, single first thing, then flock of 18 later in morning, circled and left. Ruddy Turnstone - 1 flew in and left high. Dunlin - 9 certainly maybe more. Common Snipe - 2 Common Sandpiper - 4 Yellow-legged Gull - 1 Chiffchaff - 2 Wheatear - 1, bird of the day as it suddenly appeared on the wall in front of the hide during the rain.
A juvenile Peregrine caught and ate a Starling. Peregrine was red ringed on right leg, unable to read code. A Little Egret landed briefly on west bank of no3 before moving off further west. 6 Common Sandpiper. 1 Juv. Little Ringed Plover. c10 Swift. 3 House Martin. 4 Linnet.

Common Scoter very early morning, circled high and went off south west. Other highlights, Redshank 1, Dunlin heard only, Common Sandpiper 4, Oystercatcher 3, Tufted Duck 289, Goosander 20, Ring-necked Parakeet 1.
