Adult male Hen Harrier flew East over Gale Brook Wood on the county boundary.

Grey Wagtail Doveleys road Salford 6 hopping around the back yard walls .
A couple of days ago 2 Buzzards soaring over slip road A580 / A666 .

We know it as Gale Brook Plantation, if you look in the history of the "Horwich Moors" Postings back to September/October, you will see that we had this question answered by Judith I think.
Crossbills were reported there before, but Simon and I visited it a few times but didnt see any.
Walker Fold Woods was more fruitful as you probably know.

best place for the Peregrines at the moment seems to be the CIS tower. There were two yesterday morning, either displaying or just having fun flying around and hanging on the wind.

Withington 07:50 this morning 500+ BH Gulls heading west, flying very low over the rooftops about 5 abreast - probably heading to Hough End playing fields ??

Doing my Mallards & Moorhens (sorry, Webs) survey at Strinesdale reses pm. Quite except for the wind, but a nice bonus in the form of a peregrine.1st brief appearance heralded by a very distinct call from the local corvids then a better view as it flew east (into the wind!) along the line of Huddersfield road, hopefully to a favorite nesting site. A roving tick for my tetrad.

town centre Peregrine flew up Raven street in manchester todaywith a pigeon.

11 mute swans 43 Bh gulls 3 cormorant on Pomona strand at dinner also flush 2 small waders of waste ground in front of adamson house but was unable to get anything on them poss dunlin

I've just returned home from the funeral of Richard Burnett R.I.P. A Stretford birder who found last years Ring-necked Duck on the River Mersey, sadly died of cancer on Xmas Eve. A top guy who will be sorely missed. Much birding banter at the funeral - even the service.

As well todays PFG sighting Tony O'Mahony had a Woodcock this morning near Ashton-on-Mersey ETW at Kickety Brook, Stretford SJ790920

A couple of people saw a Kingfisher at Chorlton Brook at Chorlton Park on their way to the funeral.

Tony even had his bins with him - though no Parakeets over the Southern Cemetary Crematorium.

It would be really helpful if all Bolton birders could keep an eye open for any town centre Peregrines, and report them here or to me, so we have ammunition to get a box installed on the town hall.

Robins robins and robins loads of the little blighters today 25 in total with 13 dunnocks 9 blackbirds 4 wrens can you tell I was doing my BTO bit today

Chiffchaff found whilst doing my timed tedrad for the bird atlas.As well as the usual suspects I saw nearly 100 siskin in 5 different flocks, 4 brambling, 2 dipper, grey wag and g.s.woodpecker.

If any New Years Day listers want the location, we could come to some arrangement.
On the down side, as I was walking back home, I saw a goosander flying overhead-then realised if I was sat at home, it would have been visible from my front room window. Missed a garden tick.

male goosander took off from River Tame nr. Gret Portwood St. and away east over the Peel Centre 15.30 today.

Graham Jones tells me he counted 127 Pied Wagtails in a roost at Snipe Retail Park tonight. I think this is the one on the Ashton Moss development near A-u-L.

and fantastic views of 2 Foxes hunting Pheasants!
