RE: Email problems

Thanks John. Mine is improving - better than it was but not perfect by any means. Usually all the outgoing mail goes when I next switch it on!

Mine's fixed now! It was only a problem for one evening and everythings okay now, although I haven't a clue what was wrong and come to think of it, nor do I wish to know smile.gif

Ian McKerchar, also on Orange, is now having the same problem so it must be Orange. No doubt they will sort it eventually. As I said on the other reports page, Adrian couldn't even send us both the Goosander photos - they just bounced back. I find that when I switch the computer on, if it's been off a while, sometimes the outgoing emails go! I can however send them using Orange webmail but of course I don't have my contact list on that.
John - I found I couldn't even save your excellent Garganey photos today for some obscure reason! I've saved the whole email in a new file then I can put my hand on it for the 2007 report if required.
Neil - I checked the Tools etc. just to make sure that was correct and hadn't corrupted - it's OK.

im having the same problem on both my laptops-im with orange?i thought it was my laptop but tried my old one and the same error came up.strangely my computer wouldn't restore to an earlier point either, which is stranege as the last time that happened a month ago it was because of a microsoft update that had a glitch ,apperently affecting 100000 computers?funnyly enough a update came in friday when this started to happen-did anyone else manage to solve this?cry.gif

Hi Judith,

It sounds like your email server is the problem, it happens to my email sometimes for no apparent reason even though I haven't changed any settings but sometimes shutting down outlook and starting again kicks it back into working. It could just be that the server is busy or offline, but the reason you can still receive email is because you have a different server for outgoing mail (SMTP) than incoming mail (POP3 probably). I'm not sure how to fix it other than checking you haven't managed to change the server (Tools>Accounts>Properties>servers). I'm no techy but I've had problems with this myself so have learnt the hard way.

Neil

It does work intermittently! )If anyone knows how to solve OE error no Ox800CCC0E let me know! - I've tried everything I can think of, having google'd it etc.
