Highlights from 07:00 - 10:45am with 50 species seen plus 2 heard only. Partly with Ian and Malcolm.
1 Hawfinch flew SE over res at 08:10 am.
1 Pink footed Goose amongst 201+ Canada geese.
400+ Jackdaws over.
12 Goosander.
16 Teal.
4 Scaup.
2 Gadwall.
2 Kingfishers.
1 Little Grebe.
2 Water rail 1 Heard in Capsticks,1 seen by Ian on Canal.
1 Little Egret.
6 Jays.
2 Lapwings.
Feeders.
1 Brambling my first seen this winter at the feeders.
1 Coal tit.
1 Willow tit.

Managed to finally get some decent photos of the 4 Scaup as they have been evading me all week (I do believe we have 3 juvenile females & 1 juvenile male)
Also had a kingfisher behind the pump house and a Sparrowhawk in the goyt.

Also adding to Ian's list is.... Teal (that was with the female wigeon), 2 water rails seen along canal with one basking in the sun halfway out of the reeds, grey wagtail over and large mixed gulls numbered 100 plus including common gull. Ta!

This a.m. with Malcolm, Howard and really good to see Brian Fogg(no disrespect meant to Malcolm and Howard!!), highlights were 2 Little Egret, 4 Scaup and good views of a Water Rail on the canal. 1 Willow Tit on the feeders. Cheers Ian
* Male siskin made a very brief appearance on the feeders before dissappearing after being spooked by an alarming Blackbird (Spotted by Steven Higginbottom )
* Little Egret flew out of the creek towards the pump house.

This a.m. with Malcolm highlights included 2 Little Egret below pumphouse, 1 Buzzard near Crow Trees, 1 Goldeneye and 15 Goosander on the res. no sign of the Scaup. Cheers Ian
This a.m. with Malcolm, highlights included 2 Raven on pylon towards Bury (wonder if they are establishing a territory ?), 2 Wigeon and 17 Goosander on the res, 2 Little Egret below pumphouse and 26 Teal on pool by canal. Cheers Ian
Highlights this a.m. 2 Ravens circled the res displaying at 8.45 then 4 returned doing the same thing at 9.00. On the res 24 Teal, 4 Gadwall and 5 Goosander with a Kingfisher flying across. 2 Little Egrets below pumphouse and 1 Water Rail at Capsticks. At the feeders 1 Willow Tit. Cheers Ian
Sheila and Katie Tod whilst walking the dogs at dusk each evening have seen a Woodcock for the last couple of weeks. On Thursday this week they were watching four flying around, which is an excellent record for Elton.

Forgot the 2 Little Egret!!!!,weird how that can happen as we see them nearly everyday now, 5 years ago we would be jumping up and down seeing 2 together.

My bad, i apologies I forgot to add a post last year on my way to chorley .....(31st dec). A gadwall was seen showing well on a pool of the flooded fields along the canal and there were some redwings in the area too! Ta!
