Highlights from this morning 8/7/18. 1 Common Sandpiper. 8 Lapwings flew over SE high up. 2 Common Terns. 7 Cormorants flew over East 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker. 1 Kestrel. Mixed flock of Blue, Great & Long tailed tit moving through hedge between Wader point and Creek.
04:40- 08:10am with Ian c from 06:30am highlights. 1 Grasshopper Warbler old hall marsh. 3 Sedge Warblers. 5 Whitethroat. 6 Willow Warbler. Lesser Whitethroat 2 Heard only. Reed warbler hear only. 1 Common Snipe flew from Capsticks. 2 Little Ringed plover By Creek. 1 Common Sandpiper near car park. 3 Common tern. 1 Kingfisher Withins 3 Kestrel. 1 Peregrine falcon. Water rail heard only along canal and capsticks.
Morning 1/7/18 up to 09:40am with Ian C. 1 Common Tern. 2 Shoveler. 12 Tufted Ducks. 1 Oystercatcher. 1 Water Rail plus 3 Heard. 1 Kingfisher. 2 Linnets. Lesser & Common Whitethroats. Singing Willow Warblers, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Sedge Warblers. 2 Possibly 4 Kestrels.
Brief early morning visit, of note a Common Sandpiper at creek, the first sign of Autumn migration or a bird displaced from the burning moorland?. Also single Common Tern. Cheers Ian
Morning visit up to 10:15am with Ian & briefly with Derek. 3 Common Terns 2 displaying. 1 Little Grebe. 2 Cormorants. 3 Great black Backed Gulls 2 Juv 1 Adult. 100+ Swift. 50+ Sand Martin also Swallow and house martin present. 1 Lesser Whitethroat. 1 Nuthatch. 1 Buzzard. 1 Kestrel.
Brief early morning visit, juv. Little Grebe was a surprise, also 1 Oystercatcher and 1 Common Tern. Sad to see the large amount of smoke in the sky from the moorland fire in the distance. Cheers Ian
07:00-10:30am with Ian C Highlights. 1 Peregrine Falcon. 2 Kestrel. 2 Reed Warbler. 1 Lesser Whitethroat (record shot attached) 4 Sedge Warbler. 1 Garden Warbler heard in Dip. Blackcap, Common Whitethroat & Willow warblers singing . 1 Fledged Black headed Gull. 3 Water Rail heard Capsticks & Old hall Marsh. 2 Linnet. good numbers of fledged Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Blue Tits and House Sparrows.
6.45-8.00 a.m. 1 Tawny Owl in Beech in Old hall farm front garden (found thanks to Blackbirds and Mistle Thrushes persistent mobbing), 2 Linnet near pump house, 1 Gadwall on res, no sign of Oystercatcher young on roof, other birds as mainly described by Derek in previous posts. Cheers Ian
6.30-8.00 a.m. best a Whinchat on Gorse in Highland cattle field. 2 Greylag arrived at 6.45, 3 Oystercatcher young on factory roof by the river. Cheers Ian
