Walk on moss, 5/6/07, taking in fields 1-5, 10-15, 24 and 25.

Blackcap. 3 singing.
Chaffinch. 8 singing.
Willow Warbler. 2 singing.
Swifts. 100+.
Lapwings. At least 8 flushed from fields 12-15 by dog walker.
Stock Doves. 10+.
Rooks. 20+.
Whitethroat. 6 singing.
Skylark. 2 singing.
Yellowhammer. 3 singing.
Yellow wagtail. 1 flew from field 14 to 4 and back.
Peregrine. 1 over fields 24, 25 and beyond.
Buzzard. 1 over fields 24/25 and 3 over field 5.
Swallows. 4.
Willow Tit. 1.

Did the 'later' survey for Lapwings in Plots in field 37 - guess what - not a single Lapwing !

I did see a family of Brown Hares though - 2 adults, 2 young. Also a Yellowhammer and a Kestrel which seem very thin on the ground these days.

I got a map off Judith a while back, which had numbers assigned to all the fields to make recording easier.

I had a walk around the moss from Sinderland road this morning between 10.00 and 11.30. Im still not that familiar witht he area and not sure of names or numbers of the fields involved but basically i went along Townsend Farm lane, looped around the large fields (the fields where the quail were last year) and rejoined Sinderland Rd by the lane which adjoins Brookhey's covert. Anyway, i managed to see the following:

8 Wheater scattered across the large ploughed fields
6 Lapwing on same fields
1 grey partridge
1 stock dove
1 great spotted woodpecker
1 singing corn bunting
5 singing yellowhammer
4 singing whitethroat
2 singing blackcap
1 chiffchaff
4 singing skylark
2 bullfinch
8 long-tailed tit
1 mistle thrush
1 buzzard over
1 kestrel
2 swallows
4 swift
lots of rooks, jackdaws, carrion crows and woodpigeons on the fields

Short walk 1300-1500 this afternoon Saturday, 28th April, taking in fields 4,2,1,8,10,11,12,and 13 only.

Pride of place to a pair of Whinchats on field 12. Also 2 Grey Partridge on same field.
6 singing Whitethroat,
2 singing Willow Warblers,
5 Yellowhammers,
5 singing Skylarks,
2 singing Blackcaps,
2 Swallows,
12+ Lapwings,
1 Kestrel,
4 Stock Doves,
1 Missel Thrush.

Did the survey this morning.

2 Grey Partridge and a Buzzard, and a Hare but only 1 Lapwing :(

On a recce for my Lips survey (Lapwings in Plots) I had Grey Partridge, Common Whitethroat, 1 f Wheatear and loads of Skylarks - only one Lapwing though. I'll do the survey proper early one morning next week.

This was at Dairyhouse Farm (field 37 on the Carrington Moss map)
