GLAUCOUS GULL AT SCOTSMANS FLASH 14/04

Hi Phil,

Can you find us another Glaucous ? I`d just got into work when Ian `phoned with the heart-breaking news. I`ve still not recovered !

See you

Glad to be of service, guys!
I'm back home in Hampshire as of 18.30, but am popping up to Wigan again mid-May, is there anything you would like me to find when I'm next up?aww

Seriously, I was really chuffed to have found it. I believe it was a faded first winter bird and from conversations with Judith, I know she agrees. So who put it on birdguides?

Phil

Images of the bird taken by Judith Smith are now on the galleries, so go see and decide for yourself what age it is, then let us know if you come to anything other than a first-summer wink

Pete Berry tells me that the Scotties Glauc' is on Birdguides as a 2nd summer bird, yet I was informed that it was a 1st winter/1st summer? Anyone shed any light on this?

Phil Lord has only just rung me (2pm ish) to let me know that he's found a first winter Glaucous Gull on Scotsmans Flash, a very good county bird indeed! Large Gulls don't roost on Scotties and only use it to rest, wash, preen etc, but it is possible it may stay a while so long as the boats don't come out!

Well done Phil and many thanks for letting me know.
