On Friday 3rd August 2018 I posted that Bolton Conservation Volunteers would be working on the islands at Rumworth on the 12th August 2018. Due to objections from the farmer this work has had to be postponed until the 9th Sept 2018.
Beaumont Road side, 8.50am to 10.05am. 26 species seen including:
Lapwings 80+
Grey Herons 3
Great Crested Grebes 2
Swifts 15+
Swallows 25+
Reed Buntings 4
Willow Tit 1
Kingfisher 1 (seen initially in the willow scrub well away from the water, then later seen being chased by a swallow around the islands)
House Martins 12+
Pied Wagtails 4
White Wagtail 1
On Sunday 12/08/2018 10.15am to 2.30pm. a group of volunteers including myself will be working on the islands anyone interested will be welcome see details at www.boltonconservation.org.uk/page5.htm.
Black-tailed Godwit still present at 11:30 this morning, along with a hunting juvenile Peregrine, 3 Common Sandpiper, 2 Little Ringed Plover and a Willow Tit.
Juvenile Grasshopper Warbler, Willow Tit, Greenshank, Common Sandpiper, 2 Ringed Plover, 4 Little Ringed Plover and an adult Mediterranean Gull by 11:30am today.
Sunbathing Grasshopper Warbler this morning (photo attached), along with a Greenshank, 2 Ringed Plover ,Common Sandpiper, 3 Little Ringed Plover and an adult Mediterranean Gull.
