Other than the juvenile Ruff, also present today were 17 Snipe, 2 Common Sandpiper, 137 Lapwing, a Hobby chasing Swallows at 10:25 and a Cockatiel being chased about by Magpies at 11:25am.

Ruff....1 still present when I left; feeding in water just off SE shores. Common Sandpiper...1 Common Snipe ....16 feeding just off east shore, plus a further flight of 10, that left over southern fields. Possible they circled back though but I doubt. Lapwing....23 Teal....8 Gadwall....4 Linnet....5 Goldfinch....3 Grey Heron...1 Wheatear...1 imm/fem. It walked along the shore just under my position on the bank, by a bush At least 12 Pied Wagtail House Martin....4 or 5 in with the Swallows.

Flying visit at 9.30am to try for the Sandwich Terns: but not seen since 8am (Phil Rhodes)
6 Mute Swans present on arrival and watch them fly off around 10am; good record for this site. Green Sandpiper and Common Sandpiper feeding shoulder to shoulder on east shoreline. 4 Snipe feeding on south shoreline( 11 seen here this am by Phil.)

Wheatear....1 fem or 1rst winter. Perched up on north Island on my arrival. Tufted Duck....3 Cormorant....1 Gadwall...15 Grey Heron....1 Pied Wagtail...8+ Common Snipe....7 Common Sandpiper....1 Lapwing....4 Redstart....1 Brilliant repeat views at 30 yards. Perching in a small lone Willow bush by east shore c40 yards back from Fishermans Point. The Redstart regularly dropping down onto the dry shore. 1rst winter male I think. Stopping at the Dam at 12.25... two Buzzards were soaring close together, over the wood, before drifting slowly >NW. Cormorant....1 ''on stump island'' Grey Heron....2 Grey Wagtail...1 in the outflow.

Up to 30 Swallows, Some on wire at Bank Top Farm and others perched on the Gantry at the Dam or over the channel. Looked like many juveniles. Cormorant.... single on mid-channel stump. First seen for a while. Coot...1 Linnet....45 by Seddon Fold Farm. Pied Wagtail....1

Redstart....2 including one male. I watched these two flitting about, often together, catching the low sun from the west. Location was in a small clump of trees/hedge just to the right of the copse on the southern hill, and above and often on, the tangle of fence posts ( at least12 posts very close together?) Viewed from footpath. Buzzard....1 Kestrel...1 Common Sandpiper....1 Starlings...c50 flock. Swallow....40+ Lapwing....18 Tufted Duck....7 Pied Wagtail...c12 Grey Heron....1 Gadwall present on arrival, but could not be relocated. Possibly due to low sun.

Just now, Approx 150 Jackdaw murmurating over the corner of Beaumont Rd and Wigan Rd and eventually settling in the trees at the bottom of Beaumont Chase. Fantastic noise and sight

Little Ringed Plover....1 Common Sandpiper.... 4 Oystercatcher....1 Kingfisher....1 Greenfinch...1f Reed Bunting...2 ..m and f Tufted Duck... 3 female all showing 'scauplike' white bill base. Juvenile Pied Wagtails......8+ 1 male adult. Grey Heron....1 Good to meet up with Dave Broome; he had earlier seen the Juvenile Redstart, in and around the large round clump of willows on the SE shoreline. Dave also heard a Willow Tit.
