The first hour was fine but breezy, but everything was flushed from the East shore by dog walkers, going up and down throwing stones into the water! The last half hour was heavy driven drizzle and, to crown it, I got cramp in my finger on the scope focus.
On arrival a Buzzard was drifting from the Lodge and over Ladybridge. It was harassed, several times, by a single Lapwing( up to Beaumont Road). Also the Buzzard was trailing about a metre of rope like material behind it (may have been vegetation).

Message this morning from Broadgate Farm( Farmer Jim): This year there are 6 Swallows nests around the farm (April), but this is down from 30 nests in the past; not sure how long ago the 30 count was done, but apparently Jim has records. Thanks to Jim for this information.

This morning I missed the Avocet by 10 minutes. Unavoidable though.
Decent view at last of one, of two, Sedge Warblers. Whitethroat...1 Shelduck...pair. Gadwall....4 Tufted Duck...4 Further to Ian's point, all the western and south west fields are now arable. The Italian rye has been harvested but will produce a second crop this summer and is shooting up again. The bare looking tilled soil, near the cottages, is seeded and is starting to grow. A birder walked right across the cropped fields this morning in full view of the farmhouse. Not good.
