RE: Saturday 31/3

Well now im fuly recovered after the walk to scotsmans and back yesterday !!!.  I didnt check the forum after 9.30 as i went to bed early so i could be at audenshaw for 6am cry.

But thanks for the info Ian i had a really good day at pennington picking up some decent birds for my county list and at least it was great sunshine when i walked over to Wigan Flashes even though next time i go i will be drivingsmile. I saw my first swallow of the year over Scotsmans so it was worth the walk.

Andrew

Yes, you wouldn't catch Woosey trecking all that way (unless it was for a county year tick, not that he's doing a list of course wink), no not from the man who had to swap his enormously heavy 82mm Nikon for a 'light a feather' 80mm Swarovski' scope, a saving of a whole 300 or so gramms disbelief.gif, have you seen the size of the guy? He should be lugging around one of those bloody great metal jobbies you find on the promenades at sea fronts!

Andrew, you could if you fancied, do the circular walk around the whole of Pennington Flash. You can get a map from the visitor centre and the whole south side of the flash is very rarely covered yet always used to turn up some of the best birds back in the 80's atleast. The full walk can easily take up 4 hours and can be very productive.

Hi Andrew

The remark about doing the lot by walking was a bit tongue-in-cheek. It is a very long walk from Pennington to, say Scotman`s, and back again ! .........Better drive. Have a good day.

Hi Andrew,

How about doing all `the flashes` if you intend going to Pennington ? From there do the Abram Flashes and then on to the Wigan Flashes. If you`re feeling fit, you can do them all on foot following the canal.  wink

Im after some advice.

On Sat im gonna visit some sites in the county, so far only managed Audenshaw, Etherow & Daisy Nook ( shame on me i know ) so i thought id spend some time exploring other places. With Audenshaw being 15 mins away im going to start early there and thought i would do pennington flash as well but wanted some more sites to fill out my day. All ideas and help is gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Andrew
