Just to let anyone visiting Rumworth know that there is currently a Canada Goose cull taking place there. I struck up a conversation with one of the shooters there this morning called Paul who was a very pleasant chap and he informed me that the cull is strickly for Canada Geese only (he was infact surprisingly proficient in bird ID!) and is being carried out under license, with the farmer permission (infact it was he that ordered the cull due to the geese's constant cropping of his livestock's grass apparently) and in the full knowledge of the local Police Wildlife Liason Officer.
He is currently there a couple of times a week (weekdays only) but is not constantly popping away at them, so it is still worth a visit. He will soon be cutting his visits to one a week and his license expires in early April (I asked due to the possibility of breeding Little Ringed Plovers there), but don't be surprised to find them there if you visit.
It is also worth pointing out that contrary to the now fairly well worn path, the public footpath actually follows the hedgeline down to the bottom of the field and not across the middle of it, just incase anyone asks
