10.30-15.30

Georges Lane : 11 Stonechats, a flock of 7 Snipe flew South past the kennels, 2 Ravens,

2 Kestrels and a charm of around 80 Goldfinches.

Burnt Edge area: 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 4 Chiffchaffs, 2 Ravens, 4 Linnets, 1 Buzzard, 4 Kestrels,

3 Reed Buntings, 1 Sparrowhawk and a charm of 30+ Goldfinches. Small groups of Meadow Pipits seen throughout.

Red Grouse heard calling near the plantation on top of Burnt Edge.

The flycatcher was seen carrying out numerous aerial sorties from the rowan on Burnt Edge bank, near overhead power line.

4 Chiffchaffs used the same tree to carry out a few aerial sorties too, but nowhere near as frequently as the flycatcher.

12+ Stonechats frequented the area too, but when I last looked for the flycatcher a male Sparrowhawk was sat at the very spot

where the little migrant had last been seen. I'm sure I glimpsed the flycatcher escaping and heading towards Holdens Farm.

The hawk did not appear to catch anything, he just sat in the rowan for several minutes being boldly mobbed by a Chiffchaff.
