8am to 12.30 in fairly thick fog at first, humid, gradually but not fully clearing to cloudy with warm, sunny breaks.
Walked up the access path from Walker Fold, partway up under Burnt Edge, then back round to Holden's Farm, and finally down Roscoe's Tenement Clough and through the woods.
A very different experience to last Saturday with such limited visibility, at least at first. However, there was still quite a bit of bird activity, although "stonechat alley" directly beneath Burnt Edge was much quieter. That said, we also saw Stonechats elsewhere on the round, so the total actually surpassed Saturday.
Anyway, 36 species and here they are:
Robin 7 Common Whitethroat 1 Goldfinch 57 Wren 4 Tree Pipit 1 at Walker Fold (Thanks to Ian McK for confirmation, as I wasn't sure from the picture!) Bullfinch 6 Chiffchaff 7 Willow Warbler 4 Blackcap (juv) 1 Blackbird 1 Mistle Thrush 4 flew over in the fog! Blue Tit 10 Great Tit 2 Long Tailed Tit 4 Coal Tit 2 Spotted Flycatcher 1 at Walker Fold Chaffinch 2 Nuthatch 2 Stonechat 20 Whinchat 1 juvenile or female - seen briefly as it flew out of the wildflower meadow at Horton's Farm, then distantly 'scoped as it sat on a post. Wheatear 1 nice female (Burnt Edge) Sparrowhawk 1 female flew low across the moor below Burnt Edge Kestrel 1 Buzzard 1 Raven 1 heard Carrion Crow, Woodpigeon and Magpie all present several of each Reed Bunting 5 Dunnock 3 Pheasant 5 Linnet 5 Swallow 20+ Jay 1 heard Starling c20 on distant wires Collared Dove 1
