Not sure about Wood Lark - I've only ever seen them in Norfolk.
Best bet for Tree Pipit is up in the hills - my favourite spot is up near Derbyshire Bridge in the Goyt Valley SK0173 - unfortunately not in Manchester though. From Errwood Reservoir drive up the one-way road up the hill, past the ruined Errwood Hall. Park up near some Pine trees towards the end of the wood and then scan across the river valley. In Spring they sit on tree tops then shoot up to do their display flight.
Further up the road before you get to the Derbyshire Bridge car park & toilets you may get lucky with Ring Ouzel. Park up by the toilets and walk up the track towards Buxton - on a nice evening you could get SE Owl, Merlin and Red Grouse.
Then head across to the Cat & Fiddle for a quick pint !
Could anyone help with a couple of bogey birds for me? I've never positively id'd a Wood Lark or a Tree Pipit. Any suggestions in the region would be greatly appreciated.
