RE: feeding stations

Hi Geoff,

No I don’t think I will be playing football there!! Work has all ready started; a very long stretch of Hedgerow has been ripped out (Which held 3 breeding pairs of Bullfinch and 2 breeding pairs of Yellowhammer in 2006). However I must say the work doesn’t seem to be bothering the Yellowhammer! 42 This morning at the feeding station or within the vicinity of it. – I just hope they will find the new one!

Cheers Kane

Hi Geoff,

This is my feeding station that I set up about 18 months back. Basically all it is is a piece of wood on a fence post and a few seed feeders with sunflower hearts in. I get good numbers of finches there especially green and gold finches, but also quite a few Yellowhammers (27 this morning) and Reedbunting (10 this morning) and a small handful of Bullfinch.

Unfortunately the feeding station is on private land and we only use it for ringing purposes. However it looks as though we may have to relocate the feeding station to another part of the farm as where it is now – the council are planning on building 5 or 6 football pitches!

Cheers Kane
