Watergrove reservoir

A superb morning's birding in glorious weather on the moors above Watergrove. A f./imm Pintail with 10 redhead Goosander and 3 Teal on the reservoir. A Little Owl sunning itself on a dry stone wall. At 09:20 hrs a male Hen Harrier appeared over the northern ridge being mobbed by a Crow. It flew west across the moor and landed on the side of Middle Hill. Then it took flight east high up over the valley at 09:35 hrs and was lost to view. This bird was also seen on 7th and 14th Oct.

A calling Crossbill circled several times at the north of the resr. There was quite a lot of movement with Meadow Pipits, Skylarks and a Brambling heard calling overhead. To round of the morning a flock of c.55 Pink-footed Geese flew south-east at 10:20 hrs.
