New to me this site, I joined a guided LWT walk this afternoon, led by Mike Longden (Project officer Chat Moss) About 12 of us spent 2 hours going round this

fairly new facility, which lies south of the railway and south of Cutacre Country Park. Paul Thompson and David Aldred were with me.

The best birds were:

Buzzard....2

Kestrel...2

Reed Bunting... 2 m+f

Goldcrest...2

Bullfinch....4

Snipe....4 plus a probable Jack Snipe

Meadow Pipits....7

Lapwing....6

Grey Heron...1

This site very much in development. Longhorn and Redpoll cattle have been introduced to improve the habitat, by low intensity grazing, and hedges are to be tidied up and more planted soon.

The going is very muddy and rough in places, on this 60 Ha site.
