Spotted Flycatcher in our garden at present backing on to Gorse Hall this morning. Possibly viewable from top path running parallel to Salisbury Drive. Heres some shots Ive just taken.

Blackcap calling and showed by entrance to Quarry Street. Also 3 Chiffchaff, Ring Necked Parakeet over, Goldcrest, Nuthatch, 3 Bullfinch, 3 Greenfinch.

Couldn't quite believe my ears at 5pm this evening as a Blackcap was in song deep within cover near the Quarry Street entrance. Despite waiting for it to appear, it refused. Never seen an over wintering one here, so new in??

At least 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Bullfinch also present

Woodcock flew out of my garden (backs onto Gorse Hall) towards Hough Hill at 06.45 this morning.

Had a flyover but never actually in the garden. Pond digging and log pile/leaf litter area paying of again.

Nice to see 2 Swallow around the Rising Moon pub from Broadband Fold Farm at 18.50. My first of the year.

3 Linnet with one in full song and display flight. 1 Pled Wagtail. 

2 Chiffchaff in the woodlands

16 Linnet around the stables near Broadbent Fold Farm is the best count I've had since I moved here. A rarity here in 3 Stock Dove flying near Chetham's Park. Also 2 Chiffchaff.

Top of Hough Hill from 6.55-8.00 this morning. Most birds were over towards Hobson Moor but some close to the hill.

120 Redwing, Goosander, 10 Fieldfare, 6 Meadow Pipit, 10 Blackbird, 100 Woodpigeon south, 15 Goldfinch, Kestrel, Bullfinch. A distant unidentified wader.

4 Common Snipe flew off Dukinfield golf course and landed on the field just to the East of Broadbent Fold Farm. 3 Linnet around farm. Also Stock Dove, Jay, Mistle Thrush, Pied Wagtail.

Around Gorse Hall and up to Hough Hill reservoir. 

5 Sparrowhawk in the air at the same time displaying and aerial combat. Most I've ever seen in the air at the same time. Also 2 Common Buzzard  2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Mistle Thrush, 4+ Bullfinch Goldcrest

Thought I'd start a specific thread for this lovely place seen as I've just moved to a house that backs onto it.

A walk from 9-10.30 this morning produced:

800 Wood Pigeon over, incuding a single flock of 700, 3 Goosander, Redwing, Meadow Pipit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Bullfinch, Nuthatch, 6 Goldcrest, 1+ Sparrowhawk 

Like it already!
