Disaster on the River Irwell..

It's so sad. I regularly walk on the river and see herons, kingfishers and dippers and can only fear for them.

I saw a heron at Calf Hey Reservoir on Grane Moor today - where I have never seen one in years of walking there. I wondered if it had been displaced by the Irwell incident...

Big pollution incident being reported by Manchester Evening News on the River Irwell from Ewood Bridge Sewage Works, south of Rawtenstall all the way down river to Manchester City Centre involving pesticides which have apparently caused a total wipeout of all invertebrates!!

Morons dumping toxins in drains again..
