A pleasing medley of damsel and dragonflies around the ponds here today:

brown hawker,
black tailed skimmer,
red - eyed damselfly,
banded demoiselle and.....
common darter.

Beetles

Welsh Chafer Hoplia philanthus male and female mean looking mother found on bark,
Pentarthrum huttoni wood boring weevil from New Zealand
Lagria hirta hairy darkling beetle found on bark
Ant Beetle Thanasimus formicarius very pretty black and white predator of ants found on bark
donacia vulgaris vibrant metalic reed beetle
Cantharis nigra black soldier beetle
Adrastus pallens a small click beetle found on reed
Sinodendron cylindricum Rhino Beetle female
Cerylon histeroides possible
Phloiotrya vaudoueri very pretty beetle
Cyllecoris histrionius true bug often on oak nicely marked
Donacia aquatica Reed Beetle large back legs found on reed but lots of Water lily next to it
Donacia simplex Leaf Beetle
And the clown Beetle was narrowed down to a Margarinotus- Ptomister a sub genus with several species

visit here which is a SSSI and stonker invert site particularly beetles being old oak wood land unique in GM.

Phyllobrotica quadrimaculata (Skullcap Leaf Beetle)
Anthocomus rufus Bright red Malachite Beetle
and a beetle from the small Histeridae - Clown beetles which are very difficult to ID but will try to get some ID to genus at least
