I understand the Red-crested Pochard is still frequenting the canal between New Mills marina and Disley, its also been seen on Disley Dam just over the border in Cheshire one day this week.

Red Crested Pochard has been up at New Mills Wharf for the best part of a week happily feeding with Mallard and Canada Geese, assume it is the same bird which had a spell at Mousley Bottom and Lyme Park

Looks like the same 8 Waxwing have stayed in New Mills for a week or so, just saw them 8 on High Lea Road heading towards the Fox At Brookbottom. They were trilling on a wire by Brow Farm then had a drink from a gutter before flying along the lane. Had a lovely view through the binoculars. Great

8 Waxwings trilling atop a tree by the Llama farm down the torrs today at 3.45pm. They flew up towards Marsh Lane. Will keep an eye out for them

These must be on a circuit as John Turner had 8 in his garden this morning at 9.40 on Marsh Lane, he said they flew towards New Street flats.

the flooded fields on waterside (near strines) are attracting growing numbers of wildfowl.

there was also a flock of 33 lapwing this morning feeding in the boggy sedge grass area .

300+ canada geese are grazing the fields.

1 male teal was present with 100+ mallard.

other species also included pied wagtail (3) and a heron.

10 snipe in the boggy field bordering the golf course (near bridleway to hague bar), probably more, many partially hidden in sedge grass.

13 lapwing mixed in with the snipe.

30 starling feeding in neighbouring field.

Envious of the Merlin sighting!

1 Woodcock was present in the boggy fields bordering the golf course around 11am the same morning.
It flew off in the direction of Stonepiece farm.
