Mixed flock of ten thrushes, which included at least 4 Redwing and 2 Mistle Thrush

Grey Heron x 1 (unusual sighting in that it was seen in the wildlife haven at the Long Lane/Bleniham Rd side, never seen one here before)

 An hour pretty much stationary just around the wildlife haven that's been created at the junction of Long Lane & Blenniham Rd.

This area really is thriving now. Regularly see lots of species of birds in and out, including occasional waterfowl such as herons and mallards.

Sparrowhawk X 1 (hunting and scaring a large flock of goldfinch and feral pigeon out of the trees around the church)

45 minute walk to schoo this afternoonl through Leverhulme and New House Farm playing fields across the road Ring necked Pheasant X 1 Never seen a pheasant round here before. It was just as shocked to see me, nearly flew straight into me after being spooked by a dog. Feral pigeon x 1 Wood pigeon x 2 Collared Dove x 2 Blackheaded Gull X 9 Magpie x 4 Carrion Crow x 5 Blue tit X 2 Robin X 1 Goldcrest X 1 (never seen here before) House sparrow X 2 Goldfinch X 10 Chaffinch x 4 Redwing X 4 (never seen here before) Song thrush X 3 Blackbird X 9 There redwing were in a mixed flock with 2 song thrush and 6 blackbird. Possibly more as they were flying out of some trees into a horse's field and back. Thanks Bryan

Two adult and a juvenile sparrowhawk have taken up residence in the park over the last couple weeks.

 

Finally seen them today. Male handed over some prey to juvenile in mid air before continuing to hunt

Yesterday, an adult Mediterranean Gull was with 30 or so Black-headed Gulls in Tonge Cemetery.

11.50am to 12.25pm

Very quiet, apart from a bloke and his son on a quad bike, and people shouting at their dogs.

No woodland birds worth recording.

Only birds on the river were 5 Mallards and 2 Dippers seen from road bridge at Darcy Lever.
