Posting breeding birds on this out-of-county forum.

The breeding season is now upon us and as such we really ought to seriously consider our posts in relation to this before we hit the submit button.

The guidelines on posting breeding birds in the county sightings forum also apply to this forum so I'd advise you familiarise yourselves with this. Frankly, there are very few occasions where there is any positive point whatsoever in publically naming actually breeding locations of birds. Informing the relevant county recorder, yes but letting egg thieves (and yes they do monitor this forum) or even over enthusiastic birders and photographers (who have unfortunately caused disturbance in many previous cases at breeding locations of particular species) isn't a very good idea I'm sure you'll agree.

Some breeding species may well appear on other forum, websites, blogs and the likes but that doesn't necessarily make it right and the 'no posting of breeding bird locations' rule on this forum should prevent any confusion.

I will continue to remove any breeding bird locations (and there continues to be many posted down to a specific spot!).
