looked round the main site at battersby lane area this aft on the way to the flash, but unfortunately not a berry to be seen,it seems a poor year for the rowen around here to me,but anyone in warrington theres some crackin set of rowen trees full of berries outside hartwells warrington milner street/a57 ,these were full of waxwings in 2010,so anyone passing look out for them and post if you see any as i live 400 yards away p.s I just thought i saw a flock of about 25 heading along the railway there which i can see from our house ,so tomorrow could be a good time to look.

This is about half a mile from my work place John. I'll keep my eye on it over the next few weeks.

Sorry neil, only just seen your post. From the main road past abbey village you follow the track down about 800 metres and you come to a small brick tunnel. Look up to your right and they were in the high trees on the embankment. They then flew down to the berry bushes on both the right and left hand side of where you are walking. Let me know if they are still there. I may pay another visit as it was one of the best bird watching moments ever!!! At times I had 10-15 birds to take photos of and didn't know which to chose!!!

On the way back from Worlds End couldn't resist the 3 Waxwing at Deeside Industrial Estate, in Zone 3 goods entrance to BASF in and around a berry bearing tree, late this morning - they were taking berrys from the ground. That is the sixth consecutive month I have seen these lovely creatures.

RE: Northwich Waxwings

Fantastically close-up views of the Waxwings this morning still feeding in the apple tree on the embankment adjacent to the road bridge next to Northwich station. There were c. 40 birds at one point with some of them literally a few feet away at eye level, totally unconcerned by our presence. Also round the area were Fieldfare and Redwing.

Later a walk around Neumans Flash produced very little - and the water looked to be still completely frozen. The all-day breakfast at Sainsburys was good though biggrin.gif

Sixty Waxwings (probably part of the Tesco/Station flock) in Northwich today at 9.05am in Kingsmead by the A533 'Kingsmead' between the 2 roundabouts on a rowan and in silver birches nearby.

The Northwich Waxwings are now showing down to a few feet on an apple tree right nest to the roadbridge by Northwich Station, which itself is adjacent to Tescos, so they aint moved far ;) Between 60-80 today but very mobile.

25 Waxwings still in Northwich, at LA Fitness, by the Leicester Street roundabout at the top of town. The birds are very mobile commuting to Tescos car park berry trees and probably somewhere else as they go missing for long periods.
