Also worth phoning birdline north-east - we saw a Lesser Yellowlegs at the back of some allotments in a grotty town once, on they way back from Lindesfarne on an RSPB coach trip.

Theres an excellent book where to watch birds in Britain Simon Harrap and Nigel Redman
should be in all birders cars when they leave their local patch.

As for the east coast well just head for any coastal spot near Newcastle and give it a go,

in fact plan a route home the long way taking in as much coast line as you can.

Roy, if your coming back via Leeds why not try the Harewood area, its great for Red Kites, see post 30th Aug for details.

Going Newcastle upon Tyne Saturday morning, overnight stay and home Sunday.Please recommend any sites I can stop off at on the way home to Westhoughton for an hour or two.
